Parent Teacher Fellowship Meeting Minutes from 3/14/2011 - pending approval at next PTF meeting:

 

Officers present:  President Leslie Dillensnyder; Vice President Sally Grispo; Treasurer Denise Pattison; Secretary Michelle Ahern and Public Relations Connie Uff, Hospitality Co Chairs:  Patricia Muller and Lisa Walter

 

Officers absent: None

 

Twenty-one (21) Parents/teachers were in attendance.

 

President Leslie Dillensnyder called meeting at 7:05 PM.

 

President Leslie Dillensnyder began with a prayer.

 

Meeting minutes from February’s meeting were distributed.  Connie Uff made a motion to approve and Lisa Walter seconded.

 

Updates

Sally updated on Holly & Ivy 2011.  We are still looking for a new chairperson if anyone is interested.

 

Hospitality – The Pastor’s Luncheon was fabulous.  Some upcoming events are a teacher’s luncheon, Author’s night and Grandparents day.

 

Public Relations are looking at other options for advertising.  They are also asking for bids for merchandise for our next Spirit Wear sale.

 

Treasurer Denise Pattison reviewed the Treasurers Report:

Balance - $11, 165.90

Future Expenses - $8802.85.00

 

New Business

 

PTF was asked about paying for a technology conference for the teachers in Philadelphia this summer.  It would cost $2000.00.  It was unanimously voted to pay for the teachers to attend.

 

Leslie introduced the board.  No questions were submitted from the parents/teachers.  The board presented the budget for the upcoming 2011-2012 school year.

 

Leslie called the meeting at 7:40.  Sally made a motion and Connie seconded.

Updates

Leslie reminded everyone that we are in need of volunteers for Teacher Appreciation Luncheon to cover the classrooms.  Please contact Kathy Van Duzer.

 

Leslie handed out copies of the meeting minutes from the last meeting, 1/11/2011.  A motion was made by Sally Grispo and seconded by Karen Buck to approve those minutes.

 

Leslie reviewed the Treasurers Report:

Balance - $11,269.42

Future Expenses - $6287.00

Any teacher/staff have any ideas for spending the money; please see one of the board members.

 

Public Relations will host another Spirit wear sale.  Connie is working on advertising on Word FM.

 

Hospitality Chairperson Lisa Walter updated on Teacher Appreciation, catching up on Staff Birthdays, and questionnaires to the teachers that will aid in the planning process.  Chick Fil A is donating lunch to the staff for the workday.

 

New Business

Mrs. Williams invited everyone to come to Eyes on LCA and to invite someone from the community to join us as well.

 

Mrs. Williams also invited everyone to Lunch at Lehigh on April 7^th.  It will be an informational session with a view of the future of LCA.

 

Questionnaires are on the back table and will be placed on the PTF tab of the website for our meeting in March, Meet the Board.  Please fill one out if you have any questions for the board.  The questions are due to the PTF board tonight.

Updates

Leslie reminded everyone that we are in need of a chaperone for childcare for our February meeting.  She also reminded the PTF that the officers are available to them and open to any ideas/concerns they may have.

Leslie handed out copies of the meeting minutes from the last meeting, 11/1/2010.  A motion was made by Mrs. Stahl and seconded by Mrs. Gehman to approve those minutes.

 

Treasurer Denise Pattison reviewed the Treasurers Report:

Balance - $13,852.17

Future Expenses - $5787.00

 

Public Relations Connie Uff reviewed the success of the Spirit wear sale. We sold about 200 pieces and raised approximately $550.00.  She also recommends that LCA advertise on Word FM.   The cost is $1050.  It will include 2 ads during drive time for three months reaching an audience of 1.8 million.

 

Hospitality Chairperson Patricia Muller updated on the success of the Legacy reception.  They are looking for volunteers for teacher’s birthdays, and some other upcoming events, i.e. Pastor’s luncheon and teacher appreciation luncheon.

 

Jane Handwerk reminded everyone to have script orders in on time, grocery cards are always available and the candy sale will begin soon.

 

New Business

President Leslie Dillensnyder made a motion to take the balance needed from the PTF budget and advertise on Word FM.   From the spirit wear sale, we already have $550.  It was accepted unanimously.

 

Mrs. Williams introduced our speakers for the evening.  A few of our teachers gave informative educational workshops on reading, writing, and math to aid our children.  Miss Jennie Handwerk gave her presentation on reading, Mrs. Beth Houser on math, and Mrs.. Vicki Severn on writing.

Fifty-five (55) Parents/teachers were in attendance.

Leslie handed out copies of the meeting minutes from the last meeting, 05/03/10.  A motion was made and seconded to approve those minutes.

 

The 2010-2011 budget was put on the table.  The balance as of 10/4/10 is $5416.33.  The following are some projected expenses:

 

$867.00 – Holly & Ivy start up cash

$120.00 – Little Shoppers Shoppe

$2450.00 – Staff Luncheon

$350.00 – C-Cards (students earn from teachers)

$1500.00 – Little Shoppers Shoppe budget for purchasing all items

Budget approved and seconded.

 

PTF is looking for a hospitality chair, yearbook coordinator and events coordinator.  Please see Leslie after the meeting.

 

Leslie introduced Connie Uffs as our new Public Relations coordinator.  Connie is looking into T-shirts/Jackets to sell.  She is also looking to putting our information into newspaper ads, sign board ads, etc.

 

We had a very successful clothing drive.  We should receive that money shortly.  Projected is between $350-$400.

 

Donna Ondek spoke briefly on Holly & Ivy.  It is the first Saturday in November each year.  It is November 6 this year.  It is an upscale craft show.  Rebecca Ziegler is the new chairperson.  Please take a yard sign if you live on a heavily traveled road and place signs on bulletin boards in our churches, hair salon, etc.

 

New Business

 

Money is needed for final expenses for the middle school retreat.  $500 voted, King Castle motioned and Jenny Quinn seconded for the money to be spent. 

Sally Grispo introduced State Trooper Paul Iannace.  He gave a very informative presentation on cyber bullying, and Internet safety.
